Beach Walks With The Dog

Hello Folks! Oh it's been a long time. I've missed blogging, taking photographs and following you all. I thought I'd start off with Harry on the beach as the dog ban comes into effect on many beaches including Broadsands from Sunday.

Here we are enjoying some of our last beach walks until October in beautiful sunshine and with an almost empty beach

Harry has discovered the joys of paddling

Isn't it beautiful without people

A few herring gulls enjoying the calm seas and sunshine

Maybe we are not alone!

Plenty of things to find in the rocks, all recently washed up from the storms

Just a small piece of driftwood

Harry loves to play sniff and find in the rocks

Well it's been a very busy few months, but things are under control...well almost! My washing machine at 16 years old needed replacing and my brand new laptop of just two months broke. Guess which one made me very cross indeed.

Lots going on this weekend in Torbay, it's the Brixham Pirate Festival, see the new and lovely website here and it's also the BMAD Festival in Paignton. So good luck to all the teams and the organisers who work so hard to make these wonderful events happen.

It's good to be back, so until next time
Happy May Bank Holiday

  1. I am totally delighted to see you have returned to our blogging world!
It is great to see and be on an empty beach isn't it, a place where you and Harry can roam free without hindrance.
I imagine that it was the non-functioning of the washing machine that caused you the greatest of grief ?

    1. Well it was the laptop Mel...I lost days trying to get it sorted and in the end Dell had to send out an engineer. The washing machine was easy and I got great customer service.

    1. Harry loves the beach, we don't force him to go in as some people do with their dogs by throwing a ball into the sea. We let Harry get used to it in his own time and it seems paddling is his favourite!

    1. Thank you, just before the tourists arrive is a great time, the weather improves and it's still quiet, although I appreciate the tourists coming and know how important they are to this area.

  6. Happy May Bank holiday to you too, and lets hope that the artic blast moves off somewhere else soon.
Harry looks as if he has settled down very well with you and has lots of fun on your walks.
Will they replace your new laptop? however, your washing machine has given you good service.

    1. Hi Rosemary, the engineer has to replace most of the lap top's insides, which is terrible as it's a brand new business laptop and very expensive too! I got fabulous customer service from Miele and it was all easily sorted with great discounts in no time at all.
Harry is still nervous of people...even us...so we're working on that, but he's a great little dog.

    1. Thank you Wendy, Harry loves his walks and he's become used to variations too, so we walk on the green and go into the woods and he seems to love it all equally.

    1. Many thanks, the beach huts make it all look so colourful too against the blue skies. Walking on the green is lovely too as we are often accompanied by Swallows picking off insects as we disturb the grass.

  9. Good to hear from you again Suzie and I am glad to hear that all is well down there in sunny Devon. Harry certainly seems in fine health :-)

Wonderful images of your local area and the shells of the Sea Urchins are rather alien looking aren't they. I always enjoy looking for them when I am down in Norfolk :-)

Hope you didn't lose any files or photos when the laptop broke.

Have a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend and kindest regards to all :-)

    1. Hello David, we wish Harry would put on a little more weight, but apart from that he's doing great and now at 2 years old he's stronger and fitter than ever. I stared at the Sea Urchins for ages wondering what they were and had to ask a fellow dog walker who knew what they were...apparently washed up after the storms.
Nothing was lost as I back everything up regularly and the hard drive was the only thing that was working! It just set me back a few days.

  12. It's lovely to see you back and Harry is loving his home close to the sea! it always seems such a long time to be off the beaches. Luckily we have a few here that still allow dogs so it doesn't make quite the difference that it used too. Hope you had a wonderful weekend enjoying those fun events. Sarah x

    1. Hi Sarah, we still have a couple of local beaches for dogs but they get very busy, however the beautiful Elberry is still dog friendly so we can enjoy that for a bit of paddling.

  14. Lovely to see this post, lovely to see Harry enjoying his beach. My Dad always had a saying about the tourists, "Lovely to see them arrive, even more lovely to see them go" and he would always laugh.

    1. Hi Denise, Harry is certainly a beach dog although he had never seen the sea before we've given him plenty of time to get used to it. Yes love the tourists coming, but sometimes it's hard to want to share this lovely place with them.
