Torbay Air Show This Weekend

Just a quick post to let you know we are looking forward to the first ever Torbay Air Show which starts today and ends on Sunday evening.

Have a look at these guys Twister Aerobatics Team who will be performing a twilight pyrotechnic display tonight-fabulous.

The Red Arrows will be here over the weekend too, here are some images from their last fly over that I took from the front garden with the bridge camera.

Wow as I'm typing this post the Eurofighter Typhoon has just flown over doing a test flight-fantastic, see what else is here from the military this weekend.

I wish Torbay Council and all the supporters and organisers the best of luck for this first ever show.

I am a little worried about the weather though!

  1. I feel fairly confident in saying that the Red Arrows and other aircraft have done stunts in both Lyme Bay and Torbay during the 50's and 60's.
For I do recall that at some point during the summer a large Fleet Air Arm aircraft used to drop a boat and parachutists into the sea simulate air-sea rescue capabilities as a public demonstration.

    1. We still get great displays here during the Torbay Lifeboat Weekend Mel-they do the full sea/air rescue demonstrations. Dartmouth and Dawlsih both hold air shows too.

  2. Hope you have a great weekend and the weather doesn't curtail the programme. It has been hazy here all week. It is always exciting to see the Red arrows no matter how many times you see them! Did you catch the Sea King helicopters last fly past along the South Coast back in March? Sarah x

    1. The weather was amazing-really cleared up just in time for both days. Yes very foggy here too. No missed the Sea King fly by...what a shame.

    1. Considering how much I like nature, I still really love technology and seeing the Red Arrows and the fantastic Eurofighter Typhoon was a real thrill.

    1. They're from last years Dartmouth display...but they fly right over our house and out into the bay, so I was able to take them from the garden! But thank you and I'm just about to put some links to this years photos on the blog.

    1. Thanks David, don't think they got the numbers they were hoping for but we had great weather and the show seemed very good. With the backdrop of the bay it was very special I thought.

Thanks for taking the time to leave me a comment. I read them all. At the moment I'm struggling for time making it difficult to reply individually to each comment, but I'll do my best.
