The Minack Theatre

Another forgotten post. We booked tickets for The Minack to see a comedy and were very lucky with the weather.

Originally owned and built in the 1930's by Rowena Cade (and her gardener Billy Rawlings), The Minack Theatre is simply wonderful.

Fantastic views of Porthcurno Beach where Rowena Cade used many tons of sand to help build the concrete used for the seating.

Gannets flying over us and behind the stage

Absolutely worth a visit if you're down that way
Until next time

  1. I remember visiting many years ago it's a most beautiful and atmospheric place, your photos are wonderful:)

  2. Thank you Rosie, we were very lucky with the weather-a beautiful clear day and evening. It is such a special place and what a brilliant idea by Rowena.

  3. Lovely photos Suzie - what a beautiful and atmospheric place to watch a play.

    1. Thank you, I meant to post these ages ago-just been so busy with work. It really does have a great feeling and so unusual, seems like it's been there for hundreds of years.

  4. I've always wanted to go there (especially to watch a play). I can remember the Minack books (donkeys, cats and daffodils) of Derek Tangye and his wife Jeannie. One day . . .

    1. You must put it on your to-do list for later. I've read one of the Derek Tangye books 'A Gull on the Roof' very enjoyable.

Thanks for taking the time to leave me a comment. I read them all. At the moment I'm struggling for time making it difficult to reply individually to each comment, but I'll do my best.
